Signs of Brake Failure

Observing and interpreting brake components is crucial in averting potential disasters. It’s not just about reacting to the obvious signs but avoiding future and escalating damage before it’s too late. We want to not only extend the longevity of your vehicle and its brakes but also ensure that they stop precisely when you want them to. It will guarantee your and other drivers’ safety.

Airline and Dryer Failures

The brake system heavily relies on air compression to initiate motion. Should there be a hiccup in the brakes' air system, it poses a significant risk to drivers. Typically, the issue originates with the airlines and air dryers. While airlines channel the air from the tanks to the service chambers, the air dryer's job is to ward off moisture, preventing any freeze-up. Over time, these airlines can deteriorate or even freeze, especially if the air dryer isn't working correctly. Fortunately, our skilled technicians can pinpoint air dryer issues, ensuring they're effectively repaired or maintained, and also provide replacements for compromised airlines.

Air Compressor Malfunction

Its primary purpose is to generate and supply pressurized air, which is used to activate the brake mechanism. Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Pressurized Air Production: The air compressor draws in atmospheric air, compresses it, and then sends this pressurized air to the air storage tanks.

Maintaining Air Pressure: The compressor continually operates while the engine is running, ensuring that the air storage tanks maintain a constant pressure level. This is essential because the air pressure can drop as the brakes are applied multiple times.

Activation of Brake Mechanism: When the brake pedal is pressed, the pressurized air is released from the tanks, traveling through the brake lines and pushing against the brake chamber's diaphragm. This action results in the brake shoes pressing against the brake drum, causing the vehicle to slow down or stop.

A prevalent problem in air compression centers around the valves. Specifically, the unloader valve can sometimes remain open, leading to an inability to vent excess air from the compressor. If this valve malfunctions, the compressor may face starting issues. Additionally, there's a risk of air leaks, and any loose connections might require tightening. Our skilled mechanics prioritize cleaning the air compressor, as accumulated dirt and debris can emit hot air, potentially harming adjacent components.
